Formula
Total Seconds = (H₁×3600 + M₁×60 + S₁) ± (H₂×3600 + M₂×60 + S₂)
Both durations are converted to total seconds, added or subtracted, then converted back into hours, minutes, and seconds. If a subtraction would go below zero, the result is shown as 0 rather than a negative duration.
Example
2h 30m + 1h 15m = 3h 45m, equal to 3.75 total hours or 225 total minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I subtract a larger duration from a smaller one?
The result is clamped at 0 — a duration can't be negative. If you need a signed difference, subtract the totals yourself using the Total Minutes or Total Hours values.
