Formula

Weighted Average = Σ(value × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)

Every value's weight defaults to 1, which makes this a plain average. Give a value a higher weight to count it more heavily — for example, weighting exam scores by how much each is worth toward a final grade.

Example

Scores of 85, 90, and 78 with equal weight average to 84.33. If 85 is worth twice as much (weight 2), the weighted average becomes 84.5.
